Being
underweight or having below-normal body fat
has been related to low bone mass and an increased
risk of hip fracture,” says Felicia Cosman,
M.D., clinical director of the National Osteoporosis
Foundation.
That’s as a result of having
too very little body fat interferes with the
assembly of estrogens, that negatively affects
bone mass.
Also,
terribly skinny girls don’t have enough weight
relating their bones to spur them to grow and stay sturdy,
says Dr Cosman.
