Weight Loss Motivation Tips

Being on a weight loss regimen is no easy task but it's definitely doable! The trick is to not expect results overnight. The longer you stay motivated, the more success you will achieve. Motivation can come from many sources. It could be a picture, a friend, or other weight loss success stories. Follow these weight loss motivation tips to keep you encouraged and closer to your goals. Find out what works for you and run with it.
  • Don't look for immediate results. Your initial weight loss will be water weight, so plan for the long haul.
  • This is a new way of life, so don't make drastic changes.
  • Take it one day at a time and set realistic goals.
  • Set small goals of 5 lb increments.
  • If you splurge on food, forgive yourself and move on. It happens to everybody.
  • Find a weight loss buddy who is "on call" and be there for them as well.
  • Keep your thoughts positive. Don't focus on your mishaps.
  • Keep a journal and write down everything you eat and calories burned during exercise.
  • If you reach a weight loss plateau, reduce calories and increase exercise.
  • If you're ready to eat something you know you shouldn't, ask yourself if you want to "wear" it the next day.
  • Take a "before" picture and tape it on the fridge door.
  • Don't cut out all of your favorite foods, you'll feel deprived. Instead, reduce the portions.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothing when exercising. It will be easier for you and you'll be less likely to incur injuries.
  • Make your exercise as enjoyable as possible. If that means a TV and fan in front of your treadmill, don't hesitate.
  • Remember not only will you look better, you'll be healthier.
  • Make losing weight a control issue. Vow to regain control of your weight and your life.
  • Reward yourself with non-food items when you reach goals.
  • Remember, you are the only one responsible for your weight and your health.
  • When you start reaching your small goals, attend social events and enjoy the compliments of others who notice. Now that's weight loss motivation for the next 5 lbs.
  • Wear your "fat" clothes around the house. This keeps you aware of how big you really were and gives you satisfaction.
  • If you go off of your diet for one day, increased pounds showing on the scale is probably water weight. Get back on track and they'll disappear.
  • Get rid of the negativity. Getting down on yourself for one weight loss mistake will only set yourself up for failure. Forgive yourself and move on.
  • Remember, you're successful with every pound you lose.
  • There are people who will resent or envy your success. Enjoy!
